The 51st running of the Irish Derby was held on Wednesday 28th June 1916 over 1 mile 4 furlongs of The Curragh. Subscriptions were 50 sovereigns with a pot of 3110 sovereigns, 150 sovereigns to the second and 50 sovereigns to the third. The winner was owned by Mr H Ellis, bred in Ireland by Captain J Henry Greer, trained by Victor Tabor and ridden by Herbert Robbins. The winner won by a comfortable 3 lengths, with 3 lengths between second and third. |
